Assistant Manager, Gas Bar & Retail Store

Reports to:      Gas Bar and Retail Store Manager

Position Type: Full-time ongoing

 

Job Overview:

The Gas Bar & Retail Store Assistant Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Gas Bar & Retail Store in the absence of the Manager. This position supports the Gas Bar Manager and ensures that the Gas Bar is a welcoming, safe, and clean space for community members, customers, employees, and service providers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the responsibilities and duties of the Gas Bar & Retail Store Manager are completed in their absence.
  • Advise the Gas Bar Manager of any situations that occur that impacts the maintenance and/or security of the Gas Bar.
  • Support the Gas Bar Manager in maintaining legal compliance.
  • Resolve customer complaints by making recommendations or developing solutions.
  • Advise the Gas Bar Manager of any customer complaints, the solution, and outcome.
  • Maintain schedules for Gas Bar employees, monitoring attendance through sign in sheets advising of any changes that occur in the Gas Bar Manager’s absence.
  • Collaborate with the Gas Bar Manager to monitor employee performance, providing constructive and timely feedback.
  • Respond to employee inquiries, provide feedback and/or problem resolutions.
  • Adjust pricing as required when the Gas Bar Manager advises of promotions and/or clearance sales.
  • Submit orders to wholesale and research the best available pricing when purchasing product, as requested by Gas Bar Manager.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Participate in training and safety programs, reporting any incidents or near misses to the Gas Bar & Retail Store Manager.
  • Adhere to Wagmatcook First Nation policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in business, operations management, or related field, preferred.
  • Previous experience in management and/or leadership or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
