HOME & COMMUNITY CARE REGISTERED NURSE

Reports to:      Health Director

Position Type: Part-time, 3 days per week

 

Job Overview:
The Home & Community Care Registered Nurse will play a vital role in the overall health and wellness of the Wagmatcook community. This position will work closely with residents to provide timely and appropriate healthcare.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Promote and practice client and family-centred care.
  • Advocate for clients.
  • Complete home visits.
  • Attend to clients that visit the clinic.
  • Participate in professional development, training and safety programs.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality, through proper handling of information and secure filing of documents.
  • Adhere to all Wagmatcook First Nation policies.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety policies.
  • Report any incidents or near misses to the Health Director.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold a current and valid Registered Nurse license with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of acute care or home care nursing experience required.
  • Previous experience in wound care protocol.
  • Previous experience in palliative care.
  • Certification in Foot Care.
  • Must possess skills in case management.
  • Ability to provide supervision to LPN, CCA and home support workers.
  • Competent in the use of Electronical Medical Record.
  • Must be a team player within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must possess a valid provincial driver’s license and be willing to provide a driver’s abstract.
