Position Type: Seasonal, Fulltime/Parttime

 

Job Overview:

Cleanwave Restaurant is seeking seasonal line cooks. Applicants must be available to work Sunday through Saturday during the peak season (May-October). Line Cooks will prepare ingredients, cook and plate dishes and work collaboratively with the other CleanWave back and front of house team. Line Cooks will be expected to maintain a clean, well-stocked and safe workstation that optimizes the execution of food preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Line cook responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing restaurant customers with an impeccable dining experience.
  • Ensuring food safety through proper handling and preparation.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Preparing ingredients and aspects of different dishes on the menu.
  • Setting up and restocking food station and kitchen items, as required.
  • Providing take-out order support, as required.
  • Performing opening, closing and other assigned side duties.
  • Following health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Participating in training and safety programs.
  • Communicating and cooperating with the kitchen team.
  • Adhering to all policies and procedures of the CleanWave and Wagmatcook First Nation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational background in culinary arts, related field, or equivalent work experience, an asset.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of previous experience, preferred.
  • Experience in safety procedures and standards.
  • Food Handler Certification, an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Accuracy and speed in executing multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with Nova Scotia’s Food Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts.
  • Must be available for day shifts.
  • Must be available for weekend shifts.

 

Work Conditions:

  • Location & Hours: onsite, must be available to work seven (7) days per week, shift work.
  • Physical: lifting up to 50lbs., standing, crouching, lifting, repetitive motions.
  • Environmental: indoors, exposure to noise, hot surfaces and equipment, cleaning chemicals.
