Job Overview:
The Receptionist will be responsible for performing confidential administrative functions for the new Mental Health and Addictions building. The Receptionist will also be responsible for maintaining a welcome, safe, and clean environment and will provide custodial support to other Band facilities when required. This role will require a high level of confidentiality, ensuring that the privacy of clients of the Mental Health and Addictions is protected.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Mental Health and Addictions facility.
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, maintain calendars, contact clients when appointments are upcoming or need to be rescheduled.
- Respond to client inquiries, when possible.
- Ensure clients arriving for appointments complete any required documents and provide to appropriate Mental Health and Addictions employee.
- Provide information in a timely manner to Mental Health and Addictions employees to maintain continuity of services, for example advising of cancelled appointments.
- Support the Mental Health and Addictions in providing services to community members.
- Ensure the Mental Health and Addictions facility is clean, disinfected, and safe for use.
- Perform scheduled cleaning duties, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing and disinfecting floors, walls, bathrooms, and fixtures submitting completed forms when required.
- Advise the Health Director of any facility deficiencies, required repairs or additions.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working order.
- Advise of any repairs or replacements required to tools and/or equipment.
- Complete monthly safety inspections of the facility.
- Complete snow removal and salting, as required.
- Maintain positive and courteous interactions with colleagues, clients and visitors.
- Participate in training and safety programs.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality.
- Adhere to all Wagmatcook First Nation policies.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety policies.
- Report any incidents or near misses to the Health Director.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a related field considered an asset.
- Previous experience in healthcare an asset.
- WHMIS and first aid training would be an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment safely.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to provide a vulnerable sector check and criminal background check as a condition of employment.

- Chemical Substances, potentially dangerous
