Position Type: Full-time, ongoing
Job Overview:
The Public Works Employee will be responsible for providing consistent and necessary services to the Wagmatcook First Nation community. This role is pivotal in the maintenance of public health and safety for Wagmatcook First Nation members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide weekly garbage removal.
- Participate in community clean ups.
- Complete landscaping and snow removal seasonally.
- Assist in routine and emergency maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure facilities are clean and safe for use.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working order.
- Advise of any repairs or replacements required to tools and/or equipment to the Public Works Supervisor.
- Participate in professional development, training and safety programs.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality, through proper handling of information and secure filing of documents.
- Adhere to all Wagmatcook First Nation policies.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety policies.
- Report any incidents or near misses to the Public Works Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary training in a related field or previous experience, considered an asset.
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license.
- OHS, WHMIS and first aid training would be an asset.
- Ability to use tools and equipment safely.
- Ability to work in various environments, outdoors/indoors, cold/hot, rain/snow.
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) lbs.
